A Home for Nonprofit Events
The Commons Community Nonprofit Center, known as The Commons, in Stevens Point, WI is an accessible venue with two meeting rooms for events where organizations gather to inspire and brainstorm about how best to serve their communities.
Mission-aligned not-for-profit organizations are welcomed and invited to host events at venue spaces within The Commons to meet the needs of their organization, further their mission, and/or strengthen the broader nonprofit sector. Learn more about eligibility in our Guidelines.

The Commons offers two event spaces for internal tenants and outside nonprofits whose Mission and Vision statements align with those of Common Good Philanthropies. Hosted events are encouraged to meet the needs of the organization, further the organization’s mission, or strengthen the broader nonprofit sector. A copy of our Guidelines can be found here.

The types of events allowed at the event space within The Commons may include, but are not limited to: board meetings, retreats, training and workshops, fundraisers, conferences, and private meals. Please reach out to us if you’d like to discuss your event that’s not shown here.

The following listed specific types of events are restricted at The Commons’ reservable spaces:
• Events with content that conflicts with or is otherwise not in line with Common Good Philanthropies’ mission, vision or values.
• Events or forums related to lobbying, political campaigns, or electoral/partisan activities or content.
• Commercial or profit-making events that could undermine the nonprofit organization and tax-exempt status of Common Good Philanthropies or of any other involved nonprofit.
• Events that are not charitable or designed to benefit the communities served by Common Good Philanthropies such as weddings or birthday parties.
• Events that discriminate based on age, sex, religion/creed, race, national or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, or other protected class membership, as recognized by state and federal law.

The Commons Nonprofit Building aims to provide event spaces for our community, and therefore, Common Good Philanthropies does not charge room rental fees for 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations holding events at The Commons within the scope of their charitable purposes. A donation for utilizing the space is always appreciated (a suggested donation of $50 for up to 50 people, and $75 for up to 100 people), but not required.

Yes! If your requested date and time are available, and your meeting is scheduled before or after normal business hours, our team will work with you on those details and building access.

The Commons Nonprofit Space is wheelchair-accessible, as are all restrooms and event spaces. Accessible parking and building access is available by Doors 2 and 3. Service animals are permitted. If you have an accommodation or service question or request, please discuss options with our event team.

Yes! Outside food, snacks, and beverages are allowed in meeting rooms, and a catering kitchen is available in the Atrium space.

At least two weeks prior to use of the space, host organizations that are either (1) holding an event with 50 or more expected attendants or (2) serving alcohol, must provide documentation from your insurance provider which demonstrates a minimum of $1 million per occurrence/$2 million aggregate in general liability coverage naming Common Good Philanthropies as an additional named insured on the policy. Common Good Philanthropies reserves the right to require additional insurance coverage in excess of the minimum amounts set forth here.
